Know how to use Xiaomi Stock Browser (Tools Tips & tutorials, )
a. Navigate webpages with the following keys:
- Enter a URL or search keyword.
- Popular, Useful and Bookmark tabs.
- Back
- Forward
- View thumbnails of all active browser tabs.
- Open a new tab.
- Menu button. Tap it for more options: Bookmark, Popular, Copy link and Share page.
- Reading mode.
- Refresh/reload
- Place 2 fingers on the screen and spread them apart or pinch them together to zoom in or out. Double tap the screen to return to the original size.
- Double tap on a particular part of the screen that you would like to zoom in, and then double tap again to return to the original size.
- While scrolling up a webpage, the navigation bars at both top and bottom will hide automatically. To “unhide”, simply slide down on the screen.
- On the Browser, tap the Menu button and select Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap Set homepage.
- Select either Default start page or Custom. The Custom option lets you enter your own URL.
Unfortunately, the Browser doesn’t feature a Home button (which I don’t think it’s necessary anyway)that allows you to access your home page as quickly as you wish. The workarounds that I could think of are either opening a new tab or using bookmarks.
e. How to open a new tab/window ?- On the Browser, tap

- To close all tabs, tap the Tab icon and follow by
- On the Browser, tap the Menu button and select New incognito mode.

- While viewing the site that you want to bookmark, tap the Menu button on the navigation bar, and select bookmark.
- To see all your bookmarks, tap the phone Menu button and select Bookmarks.
- On the Browser, long tap the image and select Save image.
- The image will be downloaded to the default download folder on phone storage.
- If you’re using the default start page as the homepage, then should see the following 3 tabs :Popular, Useful and Bookmark.
- Tap Bookmarks.
- Tap Browsing history.
Note: I’ve yet to figure a way to view Browsing history if you’ve a custom homepage. Anyone ?
k. How to find a string/text on a website ?- On the Browser, tap the Menu button, and select Find on page.
- Enter the text in the search text box.
- On the Browser, tap the Menu button and select Settings.
- Tap General.
- Toggle the Form auto-fill switch to turn on and off.
- On the Browser, tap the Menu button and select Settings.
- Tap Advanced.
- Select Put downloaded files in .. to change the path/folder.
- On the Browser, tap the Menu button, and then select Settings.
- Tap Advanced.
- Tap Set search engine to choose a search engine you want.
- On the Browser, access the site that you want to share.
- Tap the Menu button on the navigation bar, and then select Share page.
- Select a method to share.
- Tap the search bar.
- Open the notification panel at the top of the screen,and tap Choose input method.
- Select Google voice typing.
- Tap to speak the keyword and tap to pause.
- On the Browser, tap the Menu button, and select Enable night mode.
- Now, the browser will change to a dark background with illuminated fonts which are good for reading in the dark.
To delete a useful link thumbnail:
- Long tap any thumbnail on the Useful screen,
- Tap
To add a useful link thumbnail:
- On the Browser, browse the website you want to add to the Useful screen.
- Tap the Menu icon on navigation bar, and select Popular.
- On the Add to start page screen, tap OK.
Note: The steps here were written for Android 4.2.2 on a Redmi (HM1W). If you’re having a different model of Redmi or other version of MIUI, there’s a possibility that the steps and screenshots will be different
