Xiaomi REDMI 2S : Images Leak, Metal Design Rumored
Xiaomi has been announcing devices non-stop this year. The company has unveiled Redmi 2, Mi Note, Mi Note Pro, 2GB version of Mi 4 and Mi 4i handsets this year. That’s not all though, they’ve also announced a range of smart gadgets, a two iteration of their smart TV and even some additional variants of their announced smartphones. The company still has plenty of devices to showcase though, they’ve already teased an event for May 18 where the company will announce some additional smart gadgets it seems. We’re not here to talk about those though, but about the company’s upcoming mid-range handset which leaked a while back, and now we have some additional info regarding it, read on.
Back in April, @upleaks leaked some info regarding the upcoming Redmi Note 2 (H3Y) handset. The leaker released quite a few specification information back then, and is now back with an updated spec sheet and even the image of the phone itself. The Redmi Note 2 will allegedly feature a 1080p display (unknown size at the moment, but a 5.5-inch display size is quite probable), 2GB of RAM and will offer dual-SIM support. This handset will be powered by MediaTek’s MT6795 64-bit octa-core processor, at least according to the provided info. The 13-megapixel shooter (Samsung’s S5K3M2 ISOCELL sensor) will be located on the back of this smartphone, and a 5-megapixel camera (OmniVision OV5670 sensor) will be available up front. The device will ship with Android Lollipop (5.0 or 5.1) pre-installed with Xiaomi’s MIUI 6 OS on top of it. The phone will reportedly be made out of metal, which is a new development here. The leaker has also mentioned that the phone’s codename is ‘Hermes’ at the moment.
The phone showcased in the gallery down below is allegedly the Redmi Note 2. It resembles its predecessor a whole lot, and the capacitive buttons are once again a part of this device, which we’re used to when it comes to Xiaomi’s smartphones. We still don’t know when will the company release this handset though, they will hold an event on May 18, but based on the teasers provided thus far, we won’t be seeing a smartphone launch at that event. It’s possible though, all we can do now is wait, stay tuned.
